- Description:
Are you passionate about Tennis and Pickleball? Denver Parks & Recreation is looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Coaches to help support our recreational activities and leagues.
As a coach, you’ll help participants learn fundamental skills and rules, and build confidence on and off the court.
- Requirements:

Coach and mentor athletes in basic skills and sport-specific techniques.

Foster a positive and inclusive environment that emphasizes good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Support 1–2 activities per week.

Support players’ development with encouragement, patience, and positivity.
-
Attend a required orientation/training session provided by Denver Parks & Recreation.

Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and Parks & Recreation staff.

Follow all department policies regarding conduct, communication, and safety.

- Expectations:
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before and after activities for setup and teardown.

Bring and maintain necessary coaching equipment (e.g., whistle, racquet, paddle, etc.).
- Utilize age- and skill-appropriate activity plans. Uphold and enforce rules, DPR's code of conduct and coaches code of ethics.

Maintain open communication with DPR staff, parents, and participants.

Wear appropriate athletic clothing

Create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants, including those requiring accommodations.
- Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn the fundamentals of the sport(s) you are coaching.

Ability to be a supportive, dependable, and positive role model for participants.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to uphold safety procedures and maintain participant confidentiality.

Demonstrated good character and commitment to your volunteer role throughout the season.

Head coaches must be 18 years or older.

Assistant coaches must be 14 years or older.

Willingness to work with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities or those requiring accommodations (training and support provided).

Complete the DPR volunteer application and pass an annual criminal background check prior to participation.
